Voice for the Uninsured has great intentions & too much red tape

Posted on 01 October 2008

Have you seen their commercial thats been runnning recently during prime time tv breaks?

Voice for the Uninsured is actually a web address for the AMA (American Medical Association) and the commercial exposes the fact that the biggest disease of all is still waiting for a cure and that is the 46 million uninsured.

First off, I have read in most other publications and sources online that the figure is more like 48 million….I wonder if the AMA is subtracting the number of suspected illegal immigrants who are uninsured from the tally of uninsured and thus are not America’s problem to deal with.. (more…)

Larry King Meets Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. How Nice!

Posted on 29 September 2008

So much going on with the markets recently, I didn’t have the time to comment on my disgust at the Ahmadinejad interview that took place last week on Larry Kings show.

What particularly angered me was the firm and friendly handshake between the two at the start of the interview followed immediately by Larry planting a friendly slap on Ahmadinejad’s arm.

Now refusing to shake the hand of a tyrant, (who single handily represents the biggest threat to world peace) would have come across as an insult and Ahmadinejad may well have turned around with his hoodlums and walked out of the set….. (more…)

Both My Banks Making Headlines!!

Posted on 29 September 2008

I have two bank accounts, Wamu and Citi.

Last Thursday Wamu declared bankruptcy and its retail banking assets were sold off to JP Morgan Chase for 1.9 billion dollars. I did not rush to a Wamu branch to join the frenzied masses who were withdrawing every penny from their accounts, giving short comfort in being told that their money was FDIC insured.

Instead I logged onto wamu.com and read the message from Chase that everything was staying the same – for the next six months anyway….. (more…)

HealthCare.TV – you saw it here first!!

Posted on 28 September 2008

Countless healthcare sites and forums litter the internet landscape, yet few stand out and command your attention.

HealthCare.TV is one site however that is harnessing the power of the internet through the convergence of video and broadband speed over the net to allow visitors to not only read about diseases online but to watch videos of their disease online.

This was confirmed when I spoke with Craig Meichen, one of the partners of HealthCare.TV.

“Its why we went with the .TV extension. We want our viewers to know we are a video orientated site. We have one of the largest collections of children’s health videos containing content from the very best Paediatricians we could find. And we are not stopping. We will be adding an additional 200 videos in the coming weeks.” (more…)

St Jude’s Hospital

Posted on 05 January 2010

There is nothing more painful for a parent than to see their child suffer. The agony of feeling utterly helpless when he cries in pain is beyond description. The constant and continual fear that your child will be lost before he can receive the treatment that will save him is almost unbearable. Adding impact to [...]

Make A Wish!

Posted on 28 December 2009

Growing up I had always heard of Make A Wish, knew the basic premise of what they did, but never really appreciated what was involved or how and when the charity begun and where it is today. Luckily for me, their website Wish.org provides an extensive biography of the charity and the work it performs. [...]

Newsweek Needs To Grow Up.

I am no fan of Sarah Palin. I don’t believe that she has any right to be a torchbearer for anything political since giving up the governership of Alaska. Her naked ambitions to run for President are all too apparent, no matter how poorly she attempts to disguise it. Her well timed book publication and its [...]
